Our 13 mile ride meanders through local villages and takes in some beautiful countryside.
Leaving Wallingford via Crowmarsh into Clack’s Lane, this is your one and only climb on this route. At the top turn right, then immediately left and follow the road as it meanders downhill towards Swyncombe.
At the bottom of the hill turn left, joining the Chiltern Cycleway, and head into the village of Ewelme. Passing the historic school, church and almshouses follow the stream past the watercress beds till you reach the Shepherds Hut PH. Turn right then first left into The Pightles. You’ll enjoy a great view of Wittenham Clumps along here. Follow the road round then cross the B4009 into Hollandtide Lane.
Take the first left turn and at the end of this lane turn right and head along flat roads into Roke. Passing the Home Sweet Home Inn follow the road into Berrick Salome. As you reach the triangle junction turn left and head towards Benson via Rokemarsh.
Carefully cross the B4009 again and head along Braze Lane. At the end of the lane turn right and follow that stream that you last saw in Ewelme into Benson village. At The Crown PH turn left, avoiding the busy main street, and follow the road as it skirts the perimeter of RAF Benson.
Take care crossing the A4074 into Preston Crowmarsh, head through the village and as you rejoin the A4074, take the cycle path into Crowmarsh Gifford.
At the mini roundabout, turn right and enjoy the last stretch over the historic bridge and back into the festival!
