WHERE: Kinecroft, Wallingford
The School Cycling Championships is a collaboration with South Oxfordshire School Sports Partnership to develop children’s bike skills and confidence through friendly competitive team events.
HOW IT ALL WORKS: There are three events within the competition, hosted in three separate areas of the Kinecroft.
The teams are split into 3 groups of ten teams and will move around the following three venues: The grass track race course, the skills circuit and the dual track race course. Each venue will occupy the children for around 45-50 mins after which they will move to the next venue.
Each event will be timed for the whole team rather than as individuals.
The team will then collect points at each venue but the emphasis is on learning to ride safely.
WHO CAN TAKE PART:
- Teams of 6 pupils from each primary school – 3 boys and 3 girls from each of the following years: years 1/2, years 3/4 and years 5/6.
- Each team will need a guardian or teacher as designated Team Manager, plus one other guardian/teacher on the day. This allows for team splits that will happen as part of some of the events.
- We have spaces for a maximum of 30 teams – Schools will able to put in more than one team as space allows.
WHAT TO BRING ALONG: Each child will need a bike and helmet – no child will be allowed to participate without a fitting helmet.
Each bike should have functioning front and back brakes – BMX bikes should not have stunt pegs attached.
Each child will need to have a parent or guardian sign a consent form on the day.
COST: £30 per team entry.
While we would love to host the championships at no cost, entry fees to the event help cover the cost of the equipment for the whole of the festival weekend, which means that outside of the competition event the skills area and grass race track will be open and free to use for all festival attendees.
HOW TO ENTER: Entry is only available through your school. Please contact your school and ask them about entering a team.

14:00 Teams take part in their first event
15:00 Teams rotate to take part in their second event
16:00 Teams rotate to take part in their third event
17:00 The top 4 teams will compete in the Final Dual Track race
